Start a little practice, bring your players together, or join your therapist. Find your next step here.
These steps follow Matchpix on the web. In the mobile app, some controls may be arranged differently.
01 · Start playing
Start with an activity
For practice on your own device, begin from Home. To bring people together on separate devices, use the hosting steps below.
1
Sign in
Open Matchpix in your browser and sign in. If you are new, create your account and complete the setup prompts. If you are joining someone else’s session, skip to “Join with a code” instead.
2
Choose what to practice
On Home, choose PLAY GAMES to browse activities, or PRACTICE SOUNDS to open Drill. LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES offers Vocabulary and Sequencing. You can also browse games from Activities in the navigation.
3
Choose a sound and position
For sound-based activities, select your target sound and continue to the position choices. Initial means the sound is at the beginning of the word, medial means in the middle, and final means at the end. Choose from the positions offered for that sound.
4
Set up your activity
Follow the next screen to choose words, deck size or other options when offered. Use NEXT to continue between setup steps. Sequencing uses a story or routine instead of a sound pack.
5
Start and practice together
Select the activity’s start button, such as START MATCH or START DRILL. Look at the picture, listen when audio is available, and say the word. An adult can model the word and help the player take their time.
Choose an activity, then follow its setup screen. In a shared session, the therapist chooses activities and guides the controls and turns. Players follow the prompts on their own screens.
Find the pairs
Match Game
Choose a sound, word position and the deck options offered, then select START MATCH.
On your turn, turn over two cards. Say the pictured words and look for a matching pair.
Keep finding pairs until the board is complete. In a shared session, follow the highlighted turn and your therapist’s directions.
One picture at a time
Drill & Vocabulary
Choose the sound and position, select the words you want, then select START DRILL.
Say the word on each picture card. For vocabulary practice, name the picture, describe it or use the word in a sentence.
Use the next and previous card controls to move through the words. The adult leading the activity can mark attempts with the check or cross controls where shown.
Give it a spin
Spin & Say
Choose your sound, position and words, then select SPIN & SAY.
Use SPIN, or flick the wheel when the controls are available to you.
Say the word the wheel lands on. The host can mark the attempt, then spin again for another word.
First, next, then
Sequencing
Choose a story or routine and start the activity.
Arrange the pictures in the order the events happen. Drag cards, or use their up and down buttons when you have the arranging controls.
Tell the story in order. The host can select CHECK to check the order, or MIX to shuffle the pictures for another try.
Reveal the surprise
Hidden Picture
Choose a sound, position and words, then start the activity.
Say the word on the card. The host selects NEXT to uncover another part of the hidden picture and move to the next word.
Keep practicing until the picture is revealed. Use BACK to revisit a card, or PLAY AGAIN at the end.
Practice to the finish
Race
Choose a sound and words, select the track length, then select START RACE.
Say the word shown. The adult leading the activity selects MOVE to advance the penguin. The check and cross controls above the game can record additional attempts.
Follow the penguin’s progress along the track and keep practicing until the race is complete.
Practice and explore
Treasure Hunt
Choose a sound and words, select a map size, then select START HUNT.
Say the word shown. The adult leading the activity selects DIG to uncover the next spot on the map.
Keep practicing and digging to reveal the map. When all spots are uncovered, select SEE TREASURE to view the results.
Inside a hosted session
Bingo
The therapist opens a shared session and selects BINGO from its activity picker. It is not in the standalone games list.
The host selects CALL A WORD. The player says the called word, and the host selects its square on the shared board to mark it.
Complete a row, column or diagonal for Bingo. Select RESET when you are ready to play another round.
Follow the prompts
Fluency
Open FLUENCY and choose from its setup options.
Speak the displayed prompt at a comfortable pace with your therapist or supporting adult.
The adult can mark the attempt and move through the prompts. These are guided speaking prompts; voice recording and playback-speed controls are not part of this activity.
Talk together
Freeform
The therapist selects FREEFORM inside a remote session.
Use the video session for conversation and therapist-led practice without a game board.
Follow the therapist’s instructions, then return to the session’s activity choices when you are ready for a game.
03 · Host a session
Bring your players together
These steps are for the therapist hosting a shared session. Participants use the invitation or code you give them.
1
Open session setup
Sign in with your therapist account. On Home, choose START A SESSION, or open Sessions and choose + NEW. If you already have an active session, return to it before starting another.
2
Choose how you will meet
Add a title if you want one. For people joining from different places, leave “In-person session” unchecked. For students using devices in the same room, select “In-person session (no video — students join on devices in the room)”.
3
Start now or schedule
Select START NOW to open the session. For a later remote session, select Schedule for later, choose When and Duration (minutes), then SCHEDULE. Return to your scheduled session and select START NOW when it is time.
4
Invite your players
Use the session’s Settings menu to copy its joining link or send invitations. Share the link or code only with the people you want in that session. The next section walks through both options.
5
Choose an activity
Pick an activity in the session, choose its sound, words or story, and start it. Guests may see “Waiting for the therapist to pick an activity…” until you are ready. Guide the session and use the available turn controls when it is time to change players.
04 · Invite people
Send a link or an invitation
Both options are inside the shared session. On a phone, Settings may appear as a gear icon.
1
Open Settings
Select SETTINGS in the session header, or the gear icon on a small screen. You must be the host to see the invitation options.
2
Option 1: share the join link
Select Copy the join link. The menu also shows the session’s six-character code. Paste the copied link into your own message to a participant, or give them the code and ask them to choose Join by Code on the Matchpix website.
3
Option 2: use Invite people
Select Invite people. Enter email addresses or phone numbers, separating each recipient with a comma or a new line. Select SEND INVITES. The invitations include the session link and code.
4
Check the result
Review the INVITED list and any delivery messages. Correct entries that could not be read. If an invitation does not arrive or delivery fails, share the copied join link yourself. Sending an invitation does not mean that the participant has joined yet.
05 · Join with a code
Joining? You’re in the right place.
You can join as a guest. You do not need to create an account or buy a subscription to enter an invited session.
1
Open your invitation
Select the link from your therapist. It fills in the session code for you. If you were given only a code, open the Matchpix website and choose Join by Code.
2
Check the Code field
Enter the six-character code exactly as your therapist gave it to you, or check the code filled in by your invitation link.
3
Tell everyone who is joining
Enter the name you want shown in the session under Your name. If you are already signed in with child profiles, use Who’s joining? to choose the player instead.
4
Select Join
Wait for the session to open. For a remote video session, allow camera and microphone access when you want to be seen and heard. An in-person session does not use video.
5
Follow your therapist’s lead
Your therapist chooses and starts the activity. If you see a waiting message or controls that you cannot press, wait for the host’s next step. Use LEAVE when you need to leave the shared session.
Check all six characters and ask the host to confirm the current code. If Matchpix says the session is full, has ended or cannot be found, the host needs to check that session before you can join. An old invitation cannot reopen an ended session.
I’m waiting or can’t press a control
The host starts the session, chooses activities and controls the shared flow. Ask your therapist whether the activity has started or whether it is your turn. Some controls are intentionally available only to the host.
I can’t hear the word or the other person
Check your device volume, mute controls and selected speaker or headphones. For a remote call, check the microphone controls and browser permissions too. An in-person session has no video call audio.
My camera or microphone is blocked
For remote sessions, review this website’s camera and microphone permissions in your browser and your device’s privacy settings. Check that another app is not using the camera. Ask the host before leaving and rejoining if you need to retry.
Where is Bingo?
Bingo is available inside a therapist-hosted shared session. Start or join that session first; it does not appear in the standalone activity list.
Tell us which device and activity you are using, what you selected, and what happened. Please leave out children’s personal information and private session links.
